Just came across this post on the Vinyl Toy Freaks forum. Not a brand new post, but still very much worth posting now, and hopefully it's new to some of you just like it was for me. :)
Artoyz will be releasing Bunka's Chaos Monkey come September, according to our friendly toy addict, Jimmy Foo in his post:
Now I agree with Jimmy's opinion, this is a very cool "tiki-like" design and I can't wait to see too, whether it is available as a blank diy version too.. :) Love the long arms and the stubby little body but I just can't get over the huge eye sockets!! so cool.. so much you could do with this as a canvas! Below you'll see a rendering of the toy in color too but still I hope a blank will be available.
....this is Bunka's first original vinyl toy and is due in September from Artoyz originals, it stands around 14cm (5-6"). I love the Tiki styling of this....here's hoping there's gonna be some blanks available cos i kinda like the look of this as it is....colour protos will be revealed at the Bread and Butter trade show in Barcelona around July 2nd - 4th.
Via Vinyl Toy Freaks. Check out Artoyz here
Full Wave 2 group and a nice "surprise" up next (what the hell could that possibly be?). Rumor has it the colorways are bitter enemies and will fight to the death (and will be a very limited run). VIA
Bill did a VW Bus model awhile back and its just so freakin cool i thought I'd do a feature on it for today.. :D Bil Was nice enough to stop and answer just a few more questions for me.. have a look..
Tell me about the VW Bus design you did. What was the inspiration for this?
Awesome dude. You did a Grooovy job with that... Man.
the design was for Aaron at Swearbears.com he needed a hippie van done for his Bong Bear display,he sent over a few photos of the bong bear design and swearbears grateful deadish logo and basically said i could do whatever else i wanted it just needed those 2 things for sure...other than that i TRIED to hippie it out as much as possible with the shrooms, flowers, etc.I also HAD to put at least one bunny on there! and the license plate was from dazed and confused i remeber that was on somebody paddle...
So of
course you had to add your bunny to that, and we can understand that.
What about the rest of the Excellent Woodstock-Inspired design? Did
you pull from your actual memories of years gone by as a youngster (or
were you too young during those days), Or is that just inspiration
driven by your memories of the Partridge Family and such? rofl.
aww come on! GET HAPPY! They'll make you happy... ... ... sorry..
thanx man! um i got inspired by google search for hippie vans hahahahaha, saw a few just covered with PEACE,LOVE etc...lots of flowers so i just kinda went at it my own way,im WAY to young to remember anything but SOME of the 80's at the earliest lol....def NO partridge family for me hahahahahha maybe a lil brady bunch but no partridge fam...
Ok ok too young for the 60's like me.. Love the flower headlights and the shrooms dude. Great job on this. I can't wait to see you get more stuff done!
Did you have fun with the hippie theme, and can we look forward to more of this?
hahahahahaha too broke to GET HAPPY lol.....
i had a blast i kept sayin it was done and aaron would ask for a lil bit more everytime and i was like wtf? but in the end im SO glad he pushed me to do more!!!! but more hippie stuff to come...ehh i doubt it,maybe some time down the line?although i did a tshirt design for an upcoming show at mechanized in SLC SORTA hippie ish/love theme?
Keep up the good work man!

Ok so my wife is a very talented artist and I've finally been able to convince her to put her awesome work on the web to give her stuff some exposure. I couldn't wait to give her portfolio a plug here on my vox..
I met my wife on the internet, and one of the things that caught my eye about her (besides her being a wonderful, lovely woman...) was her artwork that she'd shown me via email. I loved the fact that at the time she was in school for graphic design and that we had something in common in that area. Its been many years we've been married and she hasn't really found the time to do more art and get back into it until recently. This dragon is one of her first breaking back into the artsy world.
A little more background on this dragon and why its so great. First of all, Min had not been a pencil artist at all, in fact was very intimidated to working with them, but in spite of that, she tried it anyway, even picking an intimidating rendering of a dragon to work from. Well needless to say I about fell out of my chair looking at this thing! The drawing itself IMO stands alone as a well-done sketch but jeez louise, an early attempt at pencils? I say go, Melinda! I'm guessing you'll all agree too..
Check out more of her work via her Voodoo Chilli portfolio or BeHance.. Don't forget to give her votes for her work!
