I urge all of you creative designers, artists, etc.. to follow this link and sign the petition. It is a very important bill that should be opposed as it would change our ability to protect our artwork and other creative visual works... For a number of you, I know that your art is your bread and butter, so even more so, it is important to take a look and sign! here is an excerpt, with the link following..
The Orphan Works Act will affect all images from professional paintings to family snapshots. This includes any image, whether published or unpublished - or any that resides or ever resided on the internet. Toypunks Volume 1 will take you in-depth with Hikaru Iwanaga of Bounty Hunter, who mixed punk and toys over a decade ago to create the top fashion and toy brand in Japan. In turn, he unwittingly gave birth to the designer vinyl movement. Frank Kozik, Hiddy Kinoshita of Secret Base, Balzac, Isaac Ramos of RFSO, Carl Kent-Smith and many more make guest appearances while offering insight on the culture.
Toypunks Volume 1 goes on sale on November 15th 2007 at toypunks.com and select retailers worldwide. Each subsequent volume of toypunks will focus on a different creator while exploring the cultural connections between toys, punk and street fashion on a global scale. Expect loads of extra features, interviews and outtakes on each release. Please contact justin@toypunks.com for ordering information and inquiries.
Recently found this coverage in my Google reader: Usugrow Show at Upper Playground. This guy is very talented with the pen and ink!
Hats off to Usugrow! This is only a snippet of images found on ToyBot Studio's blog, where I found this story.
Keep up the great coverage, Toybot, glad I checked out your blog!
Usugrow has a toy coming out - this October is when it is slated for - and it looks like one that may be a pretty hot item! First version out will probably be clear grey vinyl, according to Usugrow himself. It stands about 7 inches tall and it seems that this is not nearly as big as Usugrow would lilke it to be!

Friday Night in Bristol saw a nice group of street artists ready for Secret Wars. It was scheduled to be Bristol vs. London but ended up Bristol was stood up so the artists there decided to make it a collaboration night instead. Among the artists were Rich, Inkie, 45RPM, mr. Jago and of course my friend, Gavin Strange. There's a few photos here, but many more on Gav's Jam Factory blog so check that out too.
As always, PhuEk! has succeeded in bringing yet another amazing piece of work in the form of a custom Nade this time. With the same intricate detail and vivid imagination shown in past customs, PhuEk's Metallon is a site to see! Wish I could see it up close an personal, as it is being shown at the Vinyl Elements show held in LA on May 18th, 2007 @ Barracuda. For those of you in the area, Enjoy! More information about PhuEk!, his customs and art can be found at the site: Vinyl is the New Canvas
The Metallon (Metal for Greek) is a single-seated, lightly armed and armoured scout. And is part of the Rebel Squadron 77. With a mounted blaster cannon, it's deadly to any infantry units that crossed its path. Its main objective is to reconnoitre the battlefield and provide vital tactical information as well as mobile anti-infantry support. ~PhuEk!

Ok so sometimes, I actually read what the other writers on Urban Retro Lifestyle have to say ;-) just kidding, actually I follow it all the time, and when applicable I really try to cross post the information from there to you guys that may be stuck in "VOX-MODE" most of the time, :-P Anyway so today I came across the post about MailMeArt, which is an artist competition and, well, I'm not going to re-write what you can get from URL and MailMeArt.com. This sounds like a ton of fun:
Submissions can be envelopes or packages which have been drawn on, painted , dipped in acid, covered in paper mache (anything you want really) but they must look amazing and they must have travelled though the post with the postman able to see the work, so you can’t paint a canvas and wrap it up and post it to me. The wrapping is your canvas or in most cases an envelope.
Your limit is one submission per month. If you wanted to do a series over a number of months that would be great. Please only include your email address and website URL on the envelope or package and make sure it is on the opposite side to the artwork on envelopes and not part of the main work on packages. Please also include somewhere on the envelope or package the words ‘open me’ or ‘empty’, for example if you include a letter or anything else like additional doodles or something use the word ‘open me’. If there’s nothing inside use the word ‘empty’ and the package or envelope will not be opened.
The address can be part of your Artwork or not, the choice is at you discretion. Submissions will be accepted from anywhere in the world, but please do not send any artwork of a pornographic nature or include swear words, since my son will be picking up the mail some mornings. Right! I look forward to seeing what you come up with, so get your stuff together and MAiLmeART!
