Well its like the commercial, only I wasn't taking a bath.. lol. Its what Adobe Illustrator does for me when I have a few hours to mess around with stuff. Not that this particular image took that long! Just what I ended up with lol. Anyway.. hope you like it, I dunno what I'll name him but I think I'm kinda liking the li'l (big?) dude.
This is what you do if you have an expensive toy like Flash CS3 but nothing productive to do with it..haha.. just bored and playing with it since I haven't done any animation in awhile and Never actually done a freehand one like this.. heh. I know its dumb but it was fun anyway.
Dookie poo has a new look on his front page for the holidays! Of course there are other reasons to go to Dookie's website other than to watch that animation, still.. its an added bonus when you fans visit! Love how Chorocco Tofu hit hits him with the snowball.. yet he's stuck there standing with the sign.. haha.
Okay.. still working with the mesh tool... continuing the process.. I started with the jeans but as you can see, I've scrapped that for the moment b/c it was harder than I thought.. hehe. I'll come back to it. The hole in the shirt is the only thing that is not a mesh at this point, but a blend.
A couple of points on this part, Again, for the inner shading of the hat, I did another blend rather than messing with a mesh, which would've been over kill ya know? The nose and the mouth are separate meshes from the head itself. I don't even want to think about what it would take to do it all in one mesh! makes my head hurt.. Oh, and his left thumb's lighting was changed.
And Finally I did get around to doing the jeans in the wee hours of the morning (around 2 am or so) and it wasn't so bad this time. :D
Here's another view of how the mesh looks:
Enjoy!
Well here's my first attempts at working on an illustration (from an old sketch that's been sitting around) using the gradient mesh tool in Adobe Illustrator. I have to say first of all that once you get yourself to sit down and work with it, its not quite as daunting, but actually very powerful. It takes some finagling (sp?) when your working with oddly shapped bits, but after playing with it, I figured out how to get the nodes where I want them and everything to an extent. I'm still learning though and there is a bit of weird stuff that happens with it unexpectedly, but I'll tell ya right now, it may just change the way that I do some of my illustrations.. :D Let me know what ya'll think! Be gentle, its my first try :P
