I've added a new outlet for my art recently. Similar to many of the other on demand services like cafe press, istockphoto and others, redbubble allows you to upload your art and sell it in various formats to people. It is free to sign up and upload and for the proceeds, they just take a portion of what you make off of your products just like any of the other services. Of course the profit margins are lower than if you do this on your own but for starting out and getting a measure of residual income, this could be a good thing. We'll see, its worth a try!
Here are my first offerings at redbubble so far, each selling for about $25. Check it out if you like what you see here
Recently I had received a nice Gift certificate at MPH (My Plastic Heart) from a friend of mine. Of course dying to make the purchase right away, I rushed to the online store and attempted to choose the items I wanted and finally to check out (after hours of excruciatingly painful choosing..heh). Unfortunately for several days I was unable to make the purchase. Technical problem (probably a problem on my end I might add.. but we still don't know what..hehe.. maybe need to swap out the customer for a fully functional one).
Finally I was asked to call them and I promptly did and shockingly in today's age of auto answering systems and voicemail, I was greeted by a wonderfully welcome human voice. It was refreshing to say the least! Well I was transferred to the tech guy there (again instantly welcomed) who proceeded to go through the process with me first hand. It was a long process and he stayed on the phone the whole time. No long hold times, no "its your browser, computer, your keyboard..etc" excuses he just tried to fix it. Well when that didn't work, he took care of my order personally and I just received the email recently that the sale was made and my order will be on the way soon! Woot!
So I'm sorry I can't tell you the guy's name. I would but whoever you are, a ginormous THANK YOU for the great service! I loved your store already but now you can rest assured I'll keep shopping there!
I think they deserved this big KUDOS don't you? Now go people and make a purchase even if you don't like toys - well maybe I wouldn't go that far..
We believe that to be true: if you buy UNKL for your friends and family, they'll love you. Well, maybe they won't - but I can tell you that we sure as hell will.
And because we have so much love to give, we're throwing a big fat sale starting on Friday,
Nov. 13Nov. 16 at 10 am PST. You'll see a little bit of every part of the UNKL family on sale - well, except me, Derek and Jason. You can't afford these bods. I know, I'm sorry. So give the gift of UNKL this holiday season. Why not?
Okay this is just an announcement to let everyone interested know that the Sales of the DIY version of boombus will be on-going at this point. They will continue to be made-to-order, until things get large enough down the road. :D The cost just as a reminder for the DIYs are $30 each. Shipping is separate and I'll calculate that per order.
I've finally received the first of the resin casts of the boombu toy I've designed. Since I'm very happy with the sculpt-job and the cast.. I'm working on creating the first master paint job for you all to see and am preselling the ultra limited run of these. I'm making just 10 hand-casted resin bullies, that are going to be hand-painted by me also. Please keep in mind that the small run is due to many factors, the biggest one being that I'm just getting started! :D
The Bully Boombu is going for $40 each + shipping, Paypal orders only.
I'm also going to be selling DiY versions (like in the photo) for you customizers. Probably around 20 of those to start out, but those won't be til later and I've yet to determine the price.
PM me if you're interested!
My newest Mixes on InnerTee. If you haven't been there yet, go and check it out! It is growing and I think its going to take off pretty soon. Now remember, all of these shirts are Silk-screened so are of very high quality. That is also based on what I've seen people say on the forums there that have received their shirts. I'll let you know as soon as I get some samples myself! Don't just go for my shirts, of course, there are others that might suit YOUR taste better, but please do vote for mine if you find them appealing!
Ok, I just felt very obligated to blog about this since I recently found this very cool, little vinyl toy shop just outside downtown baltimore. I found the announcement on their blog about this trading party and I figure any of you Baltimore locals that have a need for a trading party, head on over there! If you haven't checked out Atomic Pop yet, you should. Its a very nice store and I had a great time visiting. I'll definitely be out there again. Not sure about the trading party, my collection is rather small...
Trading Party On first Fridays, here in Hampden, a lot of merchants stay open later into the evening and have special sales or events. So come out, walk around!
April 6th, over at POP, we'll be having a low key trading party (for all those multiples of blind boxed toys you have - you can bring ANY toy to trade) and a Guitar Hero Competition to benefit Team Atomic who are once again riding for the Feast! There'll be refreshments and a bake sale to raise funds as well!
Starts at 7pm!
The prize for the winner on the Hard level will be a $100 gift certificate to Atomic Books/POP and a goodie bag of toys, books & other ephemera.
The prize for the winner on the Easy level $22.93.
It's just a $1 per try.
I, of course, will not be entered into the competition. I'll just be there to taunt you with my skillz. Unless you're 12 years old, then you'll probably kick my ass.
*Duh.. I forgot directions! Here ya go! Map of Atomic POP
I had the privilege of visiting the only local Designer toy shop I know of in Baltimore MD Atomic Pop is a little shop just outside of Baltimore City center and is a very cool little shop indeed. I definitely will be checking in there again. Anyone that is in the Baltimore area within driving distance and that is a fan like me of vinyl toys, I recommend you check it out. Until now, I only shopped for toys on the internet and it severely limits your view of the toys that you are interested in. Being able to go to a brick and mortar store gave dimension to some of the toys I've seen but never purchased before. Now that I have seen many of them up close, my chance of ever being free of my addiction are slim to none.. oh wait, that was before -- now I just have NO chance.. LOL. Anyway.. I ended up with some cool stuff:
I got myself a new labbit and a new nanospore. I couldn't resist getting a new blind box of something for myself. My kids got a few things too. My little ones got these things called Puchi Petite. Some toys that supposedly are all the rage in Japan right now they are apparently plastic mini food items, or at least the ones my kids got are.. They have other items too like kitchen sets, but these things are about an inch or smaller in size, basically like doll house toys.. I don't know what the fascination was with my kids, but they are amazing in detail.. cute stuff. They love em, though I'm afraid they won't know where their mini meals will be in a week. ;-)
My 13 year old and his friend ended up getting new blind boxed Fat Caps..
All in all, a fun trip, though I had a hard time deciding. In all truth, the kids were all done a long time before I was sure what I wanted to pick up.. But when you want every cool toy in the store and you're not Donald Trump, its hard. Some of the things ::sniff:: I had to pass up (for now) were:
Atomic Pop is the place to shop
After over a year and a half of buying all of my toys and related items online thinking there was no one local to browse and buy my collectibles from, I've finally found Atomic Pop! A store related to an underground bookstore called Atomic Books, Atomic Pop, obviously specializes in the collectible vinyl we've all grown to love. :-D Cool huh? Check out there blog if you want to know more!
Also if you are from the area and happen to know of other shops like this, let me know so I can post their info here too!
I don't know if you're like me, but mornings aren't my best time of day, especially not Mondays. If I were my own boss, and worked from home, I'd surely sleep until 11:00 pm and be up til 3:00 am everyday. That's just the way I am, but unfortunately, my internal clock doesn't work well with today's standard workday, so I'm stuck struggling to get up every weekday morning and will have to remain content with sleeping in those precious weekends. :'(
Well apparently there are a good number of people in the same boat as me. I say that because recently I came across a new toy/product that kind of points to that fact. The product is called Clocky and its by a company called Nanda. What is it? Its a clock that takes off running to hide once you choose to hit the snooze button. Think about it, how many mornings have you found yourself sleeping in anyway because it was just too easy to hit that snooze 25 times?! LOL, maybe thats an exaggeration but I wonder what it'd be like to have the clock move 20 feet away on its own... and then go off again.. interesting.. I might just have to get one!
The alarm clock that runs away and hides when you don't wake up. Clocky gives you one chance to get up. But if you snooze, Clocky will jump off of your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. Clocky is kind of like a misbehaving pet, only he will get up at the right time.
(for those of you in the urban vinyl group, I know this isn't urban vinyl, but I'm pretty sure most will find this pretty cool.)
