Ok friends, I have put up a new contest (finally) over at the forum: VinylToyFreaks. Plan on working that grey matter, which is your brain though, this one is going to take some thought! :)
Ok peeps, its time to put on your thinking caps for the latest contest on the forum. We need some kind of slogan for our forum.
The best slogan will be chosen to represent this forum. So the winner will first of all have a claim to fame of being the one that came up with the VTF slogan! The other thing that the winner will get is 2 prizes from our mini figure goodie bag! The second and third prizes will be for a single mini figure each and of course honorable mentions. This should be fun.
Here is the criteria for comeing up with a slogan.
Short and sweet. KISS is the acronym for Keep It Short and Sweet. Something short will stick in the minds of readers a lot longer in most cases. Make it catchy . A good slogan should run off your tongue and be memorable that way too. Speaking of which, making it memorable. Easier said than done huh? Make sure your slogan not only relates to our forum, but will make people think of us whenever the slogan is said or seen. No vulgar slogans or cursing. (ex. Toys Kick A__! won't be accepted)
Please keep in mind this is all in fun and don't take it all too seriously if you don't get picked. :) Perhaps a new slogan every year will be used.. or 6 months.. whatever..
Get on with it guys! The contest is officially started as of today and will run until 6/8/2008. One month. Plenty of time to come up with something!

All standard rules apply, including min post count of 25, etc..
Thanks to one of our faithful and very dedicated Mods over at Vinyl Toy Freaks, we've been able to secure a few more really cool prizes from a couple of the big toy guys: MAD and Sket One.. for this next contest for you all to enjoy. Just see below and follow that link!
Ok then peeps, the Bosses here at Freak towers have given me the go ahead to launch yet another Freak giveaway....although this time...you've got to get the old grey matter working a bit, and answer a few questions.
The rules are quite simple....Aside from having a MINIMUM post count of 25, just Read the questions, and send me the answers via email, that way no one gets to see the answers till the end date, which if your wondering will be 21st feb :)
The entrants who submit all 15 correct answers will be put into a hat, and drawn randomly by my GFso obviously, sharing answers with friends will shorten your odds of being drawn first!
Please use the Following email to send your answers to. petekelly2[at]hotmail[dot]com (also CC: TheFreak{at}VinylToyFreaks{dot}com) and please remember to put Vinyl Toy Freaks quiz answers in the title and include your VTF username in the main body of the email.

You can submit more than one email if you think you might have got some wrong....but nobody will be informed if they are to be included in the final Draw until after the close and before the Draw takes place.
Anyone found to be using multiple usernames and accounts will be disqualified and banned from this and any future VTF comps, and possibly even the site, so be warned
.....
Right then...I suppose ya'll want to know what's up for grabs....well for starters, we have a rather fine Custom handdoodled Dunny by the one and only Sket -One, also up for grabs will be a Limited edition Modern Heroes Print from MAD, 1 x Mini Munny , 1 x Blind Boxed Buka, 1 x Blind Boxed French series Dunny (on release) and lots lots of buttons/badges/stickers and other bits n bobs. Alright already..let's get on with the Questions!!!...
Enjoy people..
I am pleased to announce that Vinyl Toy Freaks (a collaborated effort of mine and Louie Lanford's) has invited two new artists to be featured on our forums. Keep on the look out for new announcements, information and chit chat from both Jim Koch and Crazy Label's Andy Woo. Both of them have agreed to join us! Woot!
Most of you may know Andy Woo already from previous posts. He's the big guy over at Crazy Label. Responsible for putting out very popular toys including Treeson, Seymour Sheep and House of Liu.. Definitely a label to keep an eye out for this year and of course the coming ones too..
Jim Koch is the creator of the circus punks toy.. a very innovative and uniquely designed toy based on the carnival style knock down toys that we enjoyed as kids (and some of us still do) Now also available in DIY versions too! His signature clowns with a dark feel to them can be seen gracing the toy canvases like qees, mimobots and the latest, the Gosho.. but check out his site too because he has so much more!
So don't forget to drop by Vinyl Toy Freaks to see what's up on these artists' boards in the coming weeks!
Ok guys I think I'm going to try to post all of the entries that we receive on VTF for our biweekly contest.. unless we get tons (which I hope) then it'll be as many as I can..hehe.. Anyway.. here's the first:
Rufus J. Cirrus
He's a big orange cat who lives in an abandoned cliff dwelling. He's been in the high desert ever since he was orphaned as a kitten, taught how to survive by his aged friend and mentor, the Right Honorable Rev. Chompington, a Gila Monster (Rufus calls him R.C., even though technically that works for both of them). Rufus walks on his hind legs because no one told him he wasn't supposed to. He and R.C. live together, R.C. sunning himself on the window ledges, and Rufus curled up in the shade. It's not the best place for a longhair cat, but the Reverend knows where all the hidden springs and streams are. R.C. doesn't really have a congregation, so he and Rufus have long philosophical discussions together. Sometimes, Rufus will go out when the sun is down and scavenge the bits and pieces that the wind blows in (that's how he found his battered top hat). Some of it, he uses to decorate the house, the rest goes toward perfecting his backpack glider. That's the other reason Rufus likes the strong updrafts in the cliffs. He's a bit natty-looking these days from past mishaps, but these days the wings work fine - it's more a matter of refinement now. One of these days, he maintains, those desert birds are going to be in for a surprise! Then they'll eat like kings. R.C. listens patiently and gets the salve and bandages.
Entry from Member: jpidgeon
Ok we're really trying to do a few things to get our forum kicking over there at Vinyl Toy Freaks. We've already had one contest and a member won a URFUKT Bud toy.. That went over very well.. but its not enough! So first of all we have a contest that might take some thought and creativity so put on your caps and get your cameras out..
Time for another great contest from your friends at VTF!
Beginning Monday, January 14th we want you to post
The Perils of Life as a Toy!
We all love our toys and we do our best to take care of them. Keeping them
in our detolfs, or glass cases and saving the boxes for years on end.. but
what if, we let one of them out to take on the world? What kind of dangers
would they face? Would they be chased by wild animals, attack the first
person they encounter or just go see a movie with their friends? Take a
couple pictures of a toy out in the real world, dealing with the situations
a small piece of plastic (or fabric, or wood, whatever) would encounter
during an outing. Stretch your imagination, entries will be judged on
creativity and originality.Deadline for entries is January 21st. That's right, time is short, so you
better get outside and play. Now for the rules:
1. Include a 2 sentence (minimum) caption per photo set
2. A maximum of 3 photos per entry ( minimum per set of 2 photos)
3. Up to 2 entries per member
4. As always, entrants must have a post count minimum of 10
5. No foul language or overly obscene* ideas presented please.
6. No photo manipulation.Bet you want to know what you can win don't you?
The prizes that can become yours if you win are Monsterisms Island Ambrose & Scratch:
Not good enough? Fine, they are both SIGNED by Pete Fowler:
Go here for the Contest thread!
And the disclaimer:
VTF will not be held responsible for any damage inflicted upon your toys by
the real world. If you are worried your favorite toy will be mangled,
maimed, violated or stapled by the real world then use your second favorite.
If you borrow someone else's toy VTF will not be responsible for damage
inflicted upon you by them either.
But that's just the beginning, because beginning on Monday, we will start having regular competitions (hopefully every two weeks..) for random mini figures that we have on hand. :D
Here's the first of them:
Starting next Monday, (yes you'll get a few extra days just this first time..) We've decided to start a giveaway for a random mini figure - from our small cache every two weeks. That's right, every two weeks you'll have a chance at winning! Since these are just mini figures, we'll keep the competitions relatively simple but still, you'll have to DO something to win. Not just a freebie (this decision based on some very good suggestions by some members - thank you.)
So without further adieu, our first contest is an ideal toy story.
Write a small paragraph of a character background that could be a toy. A lot of the appeal to the designer toys by people is the story behind the characters in the toys.. Write this up any way you want but my suggestions would include, personality, story, visual description, likes and dislikes. Have major fun with this. I want to see your creativity and ingenuity here!
Louie (nos4a2 and I) will pick the winner and this contest is open to all including the moderators, since they won't be judging!
Contest starts Monday January 14, 2008 and the winner will be picked by 12:00 midnight Monday January 21.
RULES:
1. Length of character background: A short paragraph, minimum 400 characters (counting spaces)
2. Post count minimum must be met (10 posts by member)
3. No artwork
4. No foul language or overly obscene* ideas presented please. Please post your characters directly in this thread. Have fun with it!
-- please be sure to thank Go Go Plastic (Retrocircles) for helping us out with the prizes and some of our veteran members that came from the old forum for giving a little to obtain these prizes!
*overly obscene: Use your judgement. Things like stating your character
happens to smell bad because he farts all the time or his "makes your pee
smell because he's an asparagus" Like Mr. Lertchman is ok, but beyond
that...
December 29th, 2007
After a brief break over the festive period, COTW is back with an absolute doozer….
Done as part of Octane3’s Secret Santa, Monstafaktory’s Anna has gone all out and IMO, produced one of her best customs to date.
Meet Darth Vader Teddy Troop!!
A wicked little re-work of the Infamous Dark Lord, complete with a top notch paint job, & working Light saber, this really is a sweet custom.
The Cape very cleverly hides the wiring for the Light saber, and the stand is actually the battery/power supply….what more could you ask for!!!!
If your not familiar with Anna or Monstafaktory, then get yer bums over to her site and check out her work….you wont be disappointed!!
Roll on 2008 I say

Vinyl Toy Freaks has a poll going on right now for all members to chime in on. We are considering reinstating the prize giveaways that had been started at the old Vinyl Toy Forum, which was based on the idea that every time the membership reached a certain level on the forum we'd give away a toy of some kind to a random member. No, it was not that the new member would be given a prize but that ANYONE with a membership at that point could receive it just because say, we hit 50, 100, 150..etc... in members. So the poll is asking if that is a project that should be reinstated or not? Let us know by joining up and putting in a vote! You can check it out here
This was brought up by the person that has donated the URFUKT Bud for Vinyl Toy Freaks to giveaway as our first prize giveaway ever. Jimmy Foo has donated this toy and will be shipping it direct from his locale, in the UK. Because it is the Christmas Season during which we are holding this giveaway he suggested the package be shipped out as soon as the rush is over rather than right on the 20th.
The drawing will still take place on the 20th but for those of you worrying about not joining soon enough, there are more promotions to be had.. this is just the beginning so come on over!

Just a reminder, that the promotion for Vinyl Toy Freaks ends 12/20/2007.. that's like umm 7 days! :D So if you want a chance to win the URFUKT Bud toy, get over there, join and get posting! Rules here
